Join us for the Annual “Wiener Takes All” Arkansas State Championship Wiener Dog Races. Public is invited to bring their lawn chairs and their “Wiener Wannabe” dogs and watch the fun and excitement to see which Wiener will be the Grand Champion and the King and Queen of the Wieners!
Dogs are grouped by age, and we have up to 10 races including the Championship Race finale. Don’t miss the Dog Parade, before racing begins. Winning dogs in each racing category are awarded a Coveted Dachshund Derby medal. The competition is fierce, and the Wiener take all! But don’t worry, our official Vet will be on hand to make sure all our Oktoberfest Wieners receive the finest of care.

Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital will be hosting our annual dachshund race at the Tanana Valley State Fair. The race is going to be located in the grassy area by the livestock barns (next to the Cluck Hut). Sign-ups/registration will be done at the Fairgrounds right before the race. This race is limited to dachshunds and dachshund mixes due to their leg size.
Each race participant requires 2 handlers – 1 at each end of the course. There will be multiple race heats depending on the number of participants. Dogs will start at one end (5 racers to a group) and can be lured to the handler at the other end by any means (toys, food, noise makers, etc).
